Saint Anthony of Abbot

Like many towns in the Valencian Community, Manises honors Saint Anthony of Abbot, popularly known by all Maniseros as “Sant Antoni del Porquet”.

This celebration that takes place around January 17 has different recreational and religious events.

Among them, the bonfire that is planted with old junk from the houses of the city's residents stands out. This bonfire is burned the night before the festival in the Plaza del Corazón de Jesús, next to the chapel in honor of the saint.

Also in other parts of the town, different bonfires are made, where, in the heat of them, the distribution of hundreds of blood sausage sandwiches with garlic oil begins.

In the following days, a concentration of horses and carts is held, which parade through the streets ending at Paseo Guillermo de Osma, where they are blessed along with all the pets carried by their respective owners.

Afterwards, the saint is transferred to his chapel.
