Although somewhat altered, this construction is one of the architectural jewels that the county conserves, and has therefore been given a grade of protection by the Valencian Autonomous Government (BIC).

The aqueduct is situated in the Salt de l’Aigua gully, and its function was to overcome the differences of level of the gully, in order to carry water to the Quart Canal and the neighbouring villages.

This aqueduct consists of 28 arches that the passage of time and the continued filtrations have distorted and added a series of stalactites that give the structure a special appearance.

Its origins are not clear, as some historians from the 19th century believed that it was of Roman construction, however, more recent studies suggest that it was from the Muslim period.

In the 1970’s the channel of the aqueduct was substituted for a new one which water still flows through today.
